Welcome!
I’m Jen and I originally created Beyond Blog Design to help bloggers and WordPress users create better, more beautiful, more functional websites.
However, as I watched the digital landscape change, I realized that just having an online presence wasn’t enough anymore.
Content, User Experience, Social Messages, Broadcasting Ideas; a brand can’t find its place in this digital world without a clear message and a way for that message to reach an audience.
Because of my expertise, influencers and brands sought me out to find the solution to the new digital problems they were having. I took that as a challenge to become an expert in my field.
About Me
I have a passion for knowledge. I have spent my whole adult life jumping from learning one thing to another. Some may be kind enough to call me a renaissance woman, others may call me the best person you could have on your trivial pursuit team!
From Graphic Design to Literary Criticism to Psychology, Jazz Theory, and Renaissance History, you name it, I probably spent time studying it. After a lot of years at University, I spent a few years working in the psychology field before deciding to switch gears and pursue more creative interests.
I Love to Design Blogs
And then I started to blog. I started my first photography blog 15 years ago. And it just spiraled from there. I realized after a few years that I was creating so many blogs because I loved to design them. If I wanted to try 5 different menu styles or social media widgets, I would need 5 places to put them!
And then I realized I still needed to know more! And so I sought out the best instructors I could (because did I mention I love to learn?), and spent a few years studying at Skillcrush, it was intense!
I came out the other end with a really strong understanding of the building blocks of websites and WordPress. Understanding the code on which WordPress is built means knowing that you can do anything, and if you don’t know the answer, you can find it!
I want to help you do anything with your site.
I have been blessed to be published in a brilliant anthology called The Mother of All Meltdowns: Real Stories of Moms? Finest (Worst, Completely Awful) Moments, and on websites like Scary Mommy, BlogHer, and Mamapedia.
In my spare time, you can find me reading sci-fi, listening to Antonio Carlos Jobim, and watching old Batman TV re-runs.
Follow me on Spotify to see what I listen to while I am working on your site!
Please contact me, I would love to chat!
